What is Stara Mati?

Grandmother Medicine

As an homage to my ancestral lines, Stara Mati, was born. In central Slovenia, Stara Mati translates as Grandmother. We are all carriers of our ancestral lines, physically and energetically. Science is now showing, through epigenetics, how our DNA patterns can be changed based on our choices and environment. We literally have the power to turn our genes off and on. Acupuncture, lifestyle choices and herbal medicine, can all support you to do this amazing work!

In Daoist Medicine, as with many other old world traditions, there is a belief that when we heal, we heal 7 generations behind us and in front of us. I am extensively trained in Classical Daoist medicine, which has a strong foundation in healing ancestral patterns or conditions we’ve carried for a long time. This could look like changing a physical or emotional symptom, or changing a perspective around a condition. Changing your nervous system, mentality or physical condition, may be something your ancestors never had the chance to do. By gifting this to yourself, you have the opportunity to break habitual generational patterns and ripple lasting, positive effects into the future to come. If this sparks something inside of you, I am honored to assist you on this journey to co-create a new path forward!

Grandmother medicine to me also honors our connection to the great grandmother, nature, this beautiful place we are lucky to inhabit. I believe nature is one of our greatest healers, physically and emotionally, offering us a solace when we need a mental break or nourishing our bodies when we need strengthen. I was drawn to East Asian medicine because of it’s foundation in the Five Elements (water, wood, metal, earth, fire) and how our body is a reflection of all these elements of nature. By reestablishing our natural rhythms and connection with natures rhythms we can help our bodies restore physically, mentally and emotionally. Our bodies are a miracles and a microcosm or the bigger macrocosm that is mother earth.
